Resolving

Movable finish lines are really easy to cross. - cracked.com

Resolutions have to come from inside and new year resolutions are a stupid way to promise anything to yourself. Not only do they tend to fail, they exemplify why one should not promise anything when happy.

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts." - Marcus Aurelius

As the moment of parting nears, a morbid feeling to escape the circumstance develops, forcing even the staunchest of hearts to bleed emotions. Rationalized behavior is hard to fathom in the times of desperation. For a response to be devoid of any bias, relational attachment has to die and that state cannot be achieved once a relation is established, even if it is an unknown person with a recognizable face. Strangely, even a stranger has an established relationship.

"Strong hope is a much greater stimulant of life than any single realized joy could be." - Friedrich Nietzsche

Living in the cocoon of safety, its difficult to realize the importance of being loved and cared for even at the cost of tolerating idiosyncrasies. It is with great cost that one realizes the mistakes of wanting to rebel without a cause. Experience always teaches with utmost care, ensuring the learning is not lost. It first tells politely and only when there is failure to listen and learn does it opt for harshness. There is unfortunately no choice offered in terms of whether there is a wish to learn. Life just doesn't move on until the particular lesson is learnt, however much the mind denies. The more the resistance, the greater the adversity. It thus ensures every pupil is destined to achieve the passing grade and ready for what lies beyond death.

Asking for incorrect things and making incredibly stupid mistakes is what actually made us bold and dare to question. It is absolutely unfair to second guess the past, especially when it belongs to someone else. The day is never too far when the tables are turned. So be careful what you ask for, you might just get it exactly!

Jæi

(Of course I clicked the snap attached to this post, incredibly, using the mobile phone camera!)

For the first time, felt envious. Like there was something dear missing which ideally, I felt entitled to own. Having never believed in a life free of regret, the fleeting moments of realization are filled with sadness, bringing forsaken thoughts of unrealistic expectation to the front. Consoling oneself with the knowledge, that the times already past can neither be changed nor undone - only makes matters worse by inducing a feeling of helplessness.

A humorous thought expressing need based change but conveying an essential choice was made by Groucho Marx. It went like this: Those are my principles, and if you don't like them.. well, I have others.

Strange, how humor manifests itself only in other peoples pain. Ones own experiences seem futile when it comes to laughing. It is because ego comes in the way of making life nonchalant; ensuring seriousness in an otherwise inconsequential existence. If the purpose of life was to be happy, more than a decade must have been wasted(in my life) distancing the soul from attaining its rightful place.

The pursuit of materialistic ownership actually empties the heart, forcing it to find a sense of fulfillment where none exists. A response to compensate for a lack of emotion leads to the extreme ends of disturbance in mind and subsequently affects the quality of life drastically. Obviously, this does not go unnoticed and leads to a performance related anxiety affecting all aspects of life. Over powering such shortcomings is very difficult as the mind keeps getting distracted and losing focus. Immense will as well as strong desire are the prerequisites to be cured.

Contrary to popular opinion, most people affected, do not even have any "want" to be better. Satisfaction is the one thing to do without in this instance. Its more of a resistance to do better and improve upon, rather than being surreal and wanting more. Acceptance of ones disposition is blamed on fate and denotes resignation causing the death of desire. The secret is to repeatedly keep saying 'NO!' again and again to avoid being lured into the trap. Declining once or twice to the invite of an escape is simply not going to cut it. So, good luck and have more!

Even so

No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care. - Theodore Roosevelt

How do you deal with death even if you know its inevitable? The reality of experiencing it is too difficult to contemplate. Life goes on - seems too cruel, however true. Some things are better left unsaid. Portraying care towards fellow beings is far less intense than being careful about near and dear ones. The social conditions which force incredible sadness at a loss are also responsible for the superficial morals enforced upon the closest people. Superstition rises due to fear of the repercussions.

Loneliness makes one compromise and offer truce to anyone offering an escape route, which leads to formation of guilt and a life filled with regret. The correction of mistakes is delayed indefinitely to save the pain of having to face the wronged. It is never too late to learn - but it is always too early to earn! Years spent on building trust are superseded by minutes used get destroyed by suspicion.

Caring is not the same as loving. A nurse is caring where as a mother is loving. The question however is, can one become a replacement for the other? And the answer is that both are mutually independent and can exist without the other. Luv can turn into another feeling and is not permanent, which is why it needs to constantly be reassured by promises of eternity. Where as, care is mostly permanent and exists longer once realized. Arguments can of course be made on the very opposite as well, but fact remains that perspectives change and the state of ones mind dictates how interpretations are made.

There's no your reality and my reality, its only a point of view. It can be flawed. It will evolve. And it is bound to change.

Victor

Smiling without any reason in the presence of another person is not always madness, it can also be luv. But then again, there's such little difference between the two, its hardly discernible.

Against the perception of hard work, people who actually undergo the experience shouldn't feel that way. Its a different thing if its forcible, which of course is mostly the case. Going through the motions is often a matter of principle and becomes a moral obligation making one feel and feed on guilt. Emotional well being and its health is frequently ignored in favor of physical characteristics. While there's nothing wrong with it, a balanced approach is a lot more desirable, just like other things in life.

So what is the solution? Does one sacrifice the whole of remaining days of life living a lie? Is it so wrong to ensure the other half is safe in the presumption that luv is forever and truthfully complete? What about living a full life and being drowned in admirable affection? Most addictions in life are born out of a physical need to be accepted. The powerful forces of needing affection drive a needy to live out a life without feeling any necessity to be socially accepted. When confronted with reality of lagging behind, any number of excuses take shape from partial reality.

The rebel without any cause is always waiting to be unleashed. There are many reasons to commit to a shortcut instead of a long drawn out battle against ones will. It feels like a biased game with rules always in favor of the home team and odds stacked against the visitors. The glory is only in winning. At least, that's what it feels like.

Bold

"It is the cause, not the death, that makes the martyr." - Napoleon Bonaparte

So what do you want to die for?

Skeptics say its not death but life which is more difficult. Further, it is said that cowards are the only one's thinking of suicide. But have they ever tried to even think of killing themselves? Its neither an easy task nor repeatable. So no one knows for sure how it feels to die. Whether or not there is any pain.

One things for sure, its not without a reason that fear of dying is thought of as number one. In spite of being inevitable, and the only thing certain, its yet to be over come by the fickle mind and its emotional attachments. Knowledge of this certainty hardly prepares one to accept it. While it can be argued that ones own demise can still be contemplated, the thought of not being able to experience the company of a loved one, ever again, is what frightens us.

The images of a limp lifeless body of a dear one are extremely scary. However much one tries to escape, the mind always manages to conjure up the worst possible outcome. A yogi once said "the content of your mind is not in your control." It can learn and absorb things in unimaginable ways and is the reason why our species evolve and dominate in our known world.

Coming back, being a martyr is held to be in high esteem as it signifies a selfless life sacrificed for the sake of freedom or protection of ones belief. The belief itself can be in the form of either a country or a religion and is claimed to be highly rewarding in the supposed after life.

"Only those are fit to live who do not fear to die; and none are fit to die who have shrunk from the joy of life and the duty of life. Both life and death are parts of the same Great Adventure." - Theodore Roosevelt

Heartfelt

Feelings and emotions have a way of overpowering the judgement of a sound mind in such an overzealous manner, that all logical calculations are squarely dumped. The essence of salt is not thought of until it is absent(or excessive). Similarly, actions are not judged before they give rise to a consequence.

Betrayal causes one to be strong by killing the greatest weakness of man - his emotions. Its far more beneficial to experience those momentary depths of intense sadness than to be paralyzed for life by the fear of facing them someday. Its counter intuitive to think one could play hardball with ones emotions. They have an innate need to be felt and occur naturally. In order to deal with them, one has to let them flow without impeding their natural tendency. As a matter of fact, emotions can heal the mental scars caused by stress and trauma and indicate a persons well being.

"Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength." - Sigmund Freud

Time is a great healer. However difficult might it seem to think ones sorrows will not go away, they always do. Just like every dawg has its day, all beings have their share of emotions, both good, as well as bad. The one thing we fail to realize is that life goes on. It's not going to stop for anybody in spite of feeling indispensable. The need for proceeding teaches everything and makes one realize that adapting to evolving circumstances is one of the greatest virtues of nature. If anything stops for anyone, its demise is most certain.

Although, one can safely say that the lessons of time do leave noticeable scars. There is no question of whether you want to learn. The only choice life gives is the manner in which you choose to learn, the easy or the hard way. Disappointment hardly arises because there is no ranking, there's only pass or fail without any comparison.

Be

"The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection." - Thomas Paine

Then what about an unreal man? The definition of man in this context, lies in an imaginary being full of righteousness and unfailing in his hope to triumph. It's an imaginary and unreal assumption of a man who was created for the sole purpose of comparison and rebuke. Man cannot exist without any vice, its an essential element of being human and is required for virtues to exist.

"Men become wise just as they become rich, more by what they save than by what they receive." - Wilbur Wright

If offered a choice between power and wealth, what would you choose? Any intelligent being knows that one is futile without the other. Moreover it is not possible to quantify either of them just like gravity. We can know the laws governing them but can't define what they actually are and this is a surprising revealation for many.

The utopian beliefs of society do not permit the revelations of science to be openly accepted, this in turn forces the truth to manifest in the form of art, giving rise to legends. Having faith in these legends and interpreting them as originally intended is a complex phenomenon bound to mislead because of ones perceptions. In summation, the mysteries surrounding the conception of thoughts are laid out to be solved, by the emotionally charged feelings.

Birth

Any more and it would have been over confidence, any less and it would be without greatness.

Restless

Experience taught that the issues faced by our own self are feeble compared to the ones "continuously faced and 'overcome' by others" in the world. Being absorbed in ourselves, we fail miserably to notice life being kind to us. It's essential to realize that we mostly receive a better deal than what is truly deserved. Yes, I mean it. There is no valid reason for us to be living like this, like we are, like giving up and feeling lost without fighting.

Charlie Chaplin had said "you'll never find a rainbow if you're looking down."

So, why is it that very, very few people manage to live life to its most beautiful extent? Ignoring karmic compulsions and all the things beyond our control, why do we continuously choose to ignore balance and embrace extremity?

Still don't remember when was the last time I laughed with an open heart and felt truly happy.. and that's the simple and honest truth, however looked! This realization is probably bridging the gap and connecting the present time., bridging the two similar points in time of "should have been" and "have been."

It had to come one day or the other.. its a journey somehow destined to be undertaken. Don't know the 'why,' but hopefully through with it.

If you can't be a star in the sky, atleast be a beacon of light on the ground - Swamy Vivekananda.

When being selfish becomes the least of your vices, the ego ensures dominance of fate. The recurrence of certain impossible delays in getting simple things done seems to have an eerily sinister under current. Why would the predicament surface with such alacrity? Especially when plans were showed to seek blessings and HE knows it!

Then again, one can never be too sure as it could all just be my over achieving jobless imagination working at full blast!

Despond

1. Must I give up on all hope to get my desires fulfilled?

2. Should I discard all beliefs to gain on expectations?

3. Is this a test or am I paying for some unknown sins?

4. Why is fate tempting me to give up on my destiny?

5. Do I even know anything? Haven't I learnt?

6. Are my basics so flawed that the advanced stands no chance?

7. Was my foundation built on quick sand instead of a steady rock support?

8. What could possibly be the purpose of my existence?

9. Why should I bother to find out and fulfill my mission in life? Is it an emotional blackmail?

10. How can I find out what I am best at, what am I born to do?

11. Why don't I yet know what I want?

12. How can I travel to the place if I don't know where I want to go?

13. Why does a feeling of emptiness haunt me?

14. Why do I always seem to run away from loneliness bearing my heart especially at sun down?

15. Why can I not attain stillness of mind inspite of knowing its importance?

Depressive thoughts are not imaginationary. They can affect anyone at anytime impartially. Historically, depression has had a profound effect on the qualitative output of artists. It's known to spur the creative juices of people in both, the scientific as well as artistic fields.

Success introduces you to the world but, failure introduces the world to you - or so it seems.

"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be." - Anne Frank

Have a cigar

After ages, felt the need to hear.

Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar,
you're gonna go far, you're gonna fly high,
You're never gonna die,
you're gonna make it if you try; they're gonna love you.

Well I've always had a deep respect, and I mean that most sincerely.
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think;
Oh by the way, which one's Pink?
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy,
we call it Riding the Gravy Train.

We're just knocked out.
We heard about the sell out.
You gotta get an album out,
You owe it to the people.
We're so happy we can hardly count.
Everybody else is just green,
have you seen the chart?
It's a helluva start, it could be made into a monster if we all pull together as a team.
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy, we call it Riding the Gravy Trail.

Sustenance

Things do not happen when you least expect it, they happen after you give up.

Expecting the least is still being hopeful just like expecting the most, just that the quantity is different. Expectations by nature are bound to the limits of our hopeful nature. Fulfilling them depends on the level of anxiety caused and can subside as time passes us by. Failure to calm the mind by accepting the circumstances results in a wide variety of disorders causing an emotional drain of energy but is augmented by the belief of having lost. Awareness does not always lead to an increased understanding of the underlying cause. A man ego does not permit a loss.

Not receiving the desired when fascinated, kills the want in the name of value and is frequently dictated by the compulsions of being helpless.

Popular wisdom

Collected from a wide variety of sources.

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see - Henry David Thoreau.

How can I go forward when I don't know which way I'm facing? - John Lennon.

I hope that I may always desire more than I can accomplish - Michelangelo.

Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth - Marcus Aurelius.

Go to heaven for the climate and hell for the company - Mark Twain.

If you can't love yourself you won't be able to love others - the Dalai Lama.

Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies - Nelson Mandela.

The essence of knowledge is, having it, to apply it; not having it, to confess your ignorance - Confucius.

Clemency

Patience eventually runs out for everyone as the mind labels it a test to qualify for mercy. Should the need arise, one shouldn't hesitate to demand attention instead of expecting it voluntarily. 'Realizing' in itself does not guarantee any corrective action. The only good coming of it is the knowledge gained.

Providence demands a sacrifice even if it arises out of a sense of duty. Depending on it does not lead to any form of immunity from accumulated karma. Although, doing penance out of guilt is known to save one from retribution, it does nothing to prevent time from repetation.

It is thought that 'cause' is followed by 'effect' and is presumed to be a universal law. Being in the very nature of things, to be understood, it is very difficult to wrap one's head around anything which defies conventional wisdom. Yet, science continues to be evolving around evidential proof and not historical myths. It's a different story, that legends continue to survive the ravages of time.

Krishn: the man who lived like God

Following are a few excerpts from the book.

Page 282.

Love is not at the mercy of reasons. It survives in a spiritual halo. The more enlightened you are the more your love expands.
Those in love have high expectations from thei.

Page 279.

There's a vast difference between being alone and being lonely. We often mistake one for the other which influences our interpretations.

Page 280.

Lonelyness is a part of human nature and nobody is free from it. Those who come to terms with it, slowly begin to enjoy it, they relish those moments and are at peace. Its only when you come to terms with being alone that you emerge complete.

Page 258.

Life itself is full of contradictions. There are multiple images of the same moment which are interpreted according to our changing perspectives.

Page 257.

To love is not to possess.. to desire for their happiness and endeavour for the same is also love.

There is no controlling over desire.

Page 252.

Time to linger over goodbye's is over.

Waiting is futile. To wait everyday, every moment for something is not living but yearning.. instead of forever waiting to receive something, it's better to accept ones every breath as an extension of life.. that would be truthful and meaningful.

Those who live today, in the hope that something may transpire tomorrow, will live tomorrow in the hope of something transpiring the day after. They fail to live life abundantly because they are rooted in future, ignorant that tomorrow and day after will be an identical exercise.. Whatever has to be will be and will happen in the present.

Its the one without hope who doesn't mind ending his life today.

If I am granted all the powers of the cosmos or even half the power of the heavens, there is no guarantee that I can wipe away the worries of all the angels.

Is freedom from life freedom from yearning?

Our journeys are a process of our minds.. in reality, there's no such thing. What exists is a time span of our journey from one point to another and its this journer we call our identity.

At this moment, we are lost into each other but the moment before and after are moments consumed in travel. Every moment of our existance is gradually leading us to our departure. End is inevitable. The only question is when.. that's the only question we don't have an answer for. If we did, our journey's would never be as interesting or challenging.

Whatever you believe in, becomes the truth and whatever you follow becomes duty. K: I accept I am independent as only an independent individual has the freedom of choice. I depart because I wish to and came here because I had no other option. The one who is independent is also responsible. My mornings are destined for someone else replied Radha

Page 232.

Krishna: your eyes are damp
Radha: that's because you look at me with moist eyes.
K: will you cry when I depart?
R: would you be pleased if I did?
K: is it possible for me to rejoice when you are in tears?
R: that's how it has been all these years Kaanha.. you harass me, make me cry, hound me.. isnt that harassment? K: that was.. just a game.
R: and what is this? K: this is reality. R: sometimes its a game and other times reality. Where do I fit in to all this? K: you are a part of me and therefore a part of my games as well as reality. What I cannot experience directly, I live through you!

Lead

'You live according to your own heart.'
Thinking about it later on in the night, realization struck, living life on one's own terms does not mean it is fulfilling, satisfactory and happy. Those comments either arise out of envy or by immense regret. Having surrendered to the will of others, one can never hope to be free. In the end, the responsibility will always rest on one's own shoulder's, however much you try to shun it, irrespective of whether you heed to other's advice or not.

No one likes to accept the blame for having lead a miserable life, and that includes the self. If no ones willing to accept this responsibility, how can success be embraced? There is no profit to be made without factoring in any form of risk.

Risk is another concept widely misunderstood. There's nothing you can do without risk. Life itself is very risky. Decreasing the possibility of an undesired outcome to an acceptable level of comfort is generally considered to be without any risk. It is far from the truth however. Only after an unexpected incident occurs, do we realize the amount of risk involved in the activity.

Our minds get programmed by the circumstances to have a unique risk profile. It varies according to the gene pool and gets reinforced everytime we make a decision and observe the outcome. Contrary to what one might asssume, a persons risk perception is not constant and changes with time. Infact, it is even possible to affect a change and tailor a persons mind to tolerate a particular type and amount of risk which they can accept.

Doing new things is almost always risky, yet many people do it. They thrive on taking risk. Apparently, the roots of this behavior are genetic and are controlled by the mind using two hormones called dopamine and serotonin. These are naturally occurring, reward based chemicals used by the mind to control various bodily functions and react as life unravels the mysteries of time. These chemicals are also known to be the actual cause of addictions as the level of production and its supply is highly regulated as well as limited. Moreover, the conditions leading to this reward keep on becoming more and more difficult as the level of tolerance grows with repetition.

Dopamine is also understood to create a sense of elation and a heightened state of indescribable satisfaction and fulfillment, often compared with being in love.

Ingenuity of the human mind

What is it that should define God? Trying to define an entity called God itself is unthinkable. By virtue of being the owner of everything in existence including ourselves, trying to define God is like thinking about how thoughts are thought out. It's similar to gravity, which is known to exist but cannot be defined even if we are aware of the laws binding it.

The thing to think about is, who would have come up with the concept of God in the first place? It's obvious to conclude that religion would have been born afterwards just like different pathways are created towards a destination, once it is known. Similar to how there can exist different roads to journey upon, different religion's were formed. One can also presume why anyone would have wanted to control or monopolize the access to reach the destination, by creating rules to be followed in the form of religion. And history is littered with evidence of how much strife was caused by the birth of various religions. But what remains unknown is who would have created the original concept of God in the first place? And why?

Logically speaking, faculties like emotion hardly have any reason to exist in a world where nature's law of survival is predominant. They give rise to weakness which countermands the basic tenet of nature. The only true feelings of life would have been those of hunger & thirst - which are essential to live. This would probably be followed closely by procreation, which again is another form of ensuring continuity, albeit for the larger cause of preserving one's own species.

So if there is no need, what-so-ever, to have any form of emotion to survive, what gave rise to compassion? The answer may lie in the primal sense of 'fear.' Contrary to popular opinion translating fearfulness into cowardice, fear is what has ensured our survival, against all odds. It is the minds way of ensuring our body's reaction spontaneously, to safeguard against threat's of known as well as unknown origin.

It is not possible to determine the scope of the unknown because we are unaware of the extent to which complete knowledge resides. Subsequently, the more one discovers, the higher the understanding of the unknown. Strangely, its become such, that we continuously choose to believe in a future, which belittles our existence; for the sake of a past, which empowers the present.

Secrets

You never achieve success unless you like what you are doing - Dale Carnegie.

That is probably why so few people achieve become successful. Mostly, people get along in life doing what's doable in order to survive. It's not that anyone likes to do a job they don't like for an entire lifetime, there simply isn't any choice.

Passing a judgement on what someone's doing for a living is easy. Just start pointing out the mistakes and criticize everything they do! Laying out expectations which can't be achieved and bringing out the worst in a person is relatively easy. Inspiring someone to perform at the desired levels and motivating to bring out their best is the difficult part which defines a leader.

What happens realistically is that people try to find happiness in what they do for a living rather than doing something which makes them happy. No one likes to dig their own grave; purposefully or otherwise. It's the societal compulsions which force a person to forego the options to choose.

It's also important to realize what it is that makes one happy. Contrary to what is popularly believed, not everyone knows what is it exactly that makes them happy. So how would it be possible to choose the work which would cause life long happiness? What you want to do can be very different from what you can do and what you are good at doing. It is the culmination of these three into one single thing which creates a happy and successful life.

Suddenly furious

Nobody foregoes the opportunity to provide unsolicited advice. The habit has become a universal law which everyone seems to abide by, even if they dislike it when used against their own selves! It is equally true of 'comparison' as well and is truly unwarranted.

Sometimes people give advice by comparasion and other times, it becomes the cause of it. The practice of giving advice professionally is of course a highly paying job and requires considerable life experience. It's one of those few things which only get better with age. Wine being the most popular example. Being selfish is a very naturally occurring phenomena arising out of struggle. Selfishness is not always considered to be a vice in the modern society and is often considered to be a necessity in order to persevere life.

As the need to communicate socially increases, conversations frequently lead to a necessity of finding common grounds. Randomly commenting on issues may lead to differences in opinion which are deemed to be anti-social in nature. It also brings out one's true opinion which has the risk of derailing a prospective beneficial relationship. Understanding an independently formed opinion was(& still is) considered to be a taboo as it was deemed to question an established power base causing unrest.

A comparative study of historic facts and religious beliefs shows the rise and fall of empire's simply because of selfish desires to stay in power. In a way - why should it be wrong? It's similar to thinking one should not do anything which gives you pleasure.

Some how, history brought about this philosophy that it is only through pain and sacrifice can one attain God. Apparently, act's which give pleasure and happiness are evil. Why? As long as one's actions do not purposefully hurt or harm other beings, doing something to make oneself happy should be of no consequence to anyone else! Isn't it being jealous and evil to hinder other's from fulfilling their desires? It's infuriating to think that satisfaction can lead to accumulation of bad karma.

Guilt by association

How much suffrage must a man endure from his guilty past to actually be in this moment, sit quietly, lay back and see the sun rising on a winter morning? Is having hope dangerous because it makes one yearn for a future even if there isn't one. Some believe that hope never dies. It appears to be that way because we always wish to have a better tomorrow. Atleast, better than today! Hope is a good thing to have because it makes us look forward to the future positively. In all earnestness, it is a ray of light dispelling the darkness in one's life.

However, it has its moments of weakness just like everything else. It affects everyone equally without any discrimination and helps even the guilty escape their mental prison's by helping them dream. Judging other's has been a common passtime human's indulge in and is based on moral compulsions.

Morality however, never applied to the victorious armies of past, who seldom behaved in a manner befitting a civilized race and were hell bent on destruction of the unfortunate losers. The king's and general's actually treated the oppressed enemy's population as objects and looted their wealth and integrity. They also compensated their famished soldier's by gifting them the opportunity to fulfill their desires without any consequential repercussions.

All these events from history makes one think of the times which influenced decision's leading to the event's. Makes one think how stupid or ingenious were those people. Makes one wonder how different would things be if you yourself were there in those time's. But the fact of the matter which one doesn't realize is; you end up second guessing the past based on the knowledge you've acquired by reading books sitting in the comfortable chair of the present time's. It's sometimes difficult to realize that your wisdom is the cumulative product of those very same mistakes committed in the past. Things would be very different had you been in the past or if the lessons from the past were not recorded. Merely gaining superior know-how should not ideally entitle anyone to use it unfairly. But then again, we don't live in an ideal world and morality is only used to gain an unfair advantage by blaming others.

Romeo

If only you gave a good enough reason to have believed, I'd be a more trusting person.

Perhaps the argument can be prolonged by questioning the motives behind the rumor's, failing to believe your innocence has had a lot to do with the initial perception created in the first few encounters. The hideousness of your untold truths still burn in the embers of my broken heart. The raging fury of your feigned ignorance has cast a long shadow of mistrust, forever having misjudged, your purest of intentions arising out of love, can no longer cure my suspicious and jealous heart.

Other men may envy my winning of your heart, they realize not, the sacrifice on my part. Little do they know, what went on in our past; I'd hate for this to be true my darling, but looks like I've already lost.

Rainbow's sheen

Love should not be a source of constant pain. In spite of the best intentions, it frequently becomes so.  The pain inflicted should logically lead to the demise., but logic has got nothing to do with love as the heart fails to adhere to the governing laws. Reason too fails to rein in the runaway heart.

The incredibly selfless heart of a woman in love, knows no bounds and is very sacrificial in nature. Just observe the level of tolerance between lovers or a mother with her child.. it's obviously incomparable.

So, for the one who loves me so dearly, the one who encompasses a new season of spring;
in the vastness of the clearest blue sky, I pray thus:

Blessed be thy life,
for you complete me.
Mark these words in stone,
as the waves erase me.
No reason made you give up,
an indespicable me.
You are truly my better half,
in a majority of me,
You power my flight's of fancy,
in your reach I will forever be.
Regrets of a life forlorn,
beyond your heart in peace.
You've been true inspiration,
and an unfathomable glee,
Helped guide my soul,
even in my death you will be.

However, love does not necessarily return the favor and can bring out the worst fear's of a lonely heart as well. Its destiny seldom lies in a world filled with promise. It is in the fate of a loving heart to make an incredibly passionate work of art. Justifying an emotionally charged flow of creativity is often paid for in the currency of extreme sadness.

Achieving

Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort - Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The reason for the morbid existence of an unfulfilled life is the inability to find happiness in anything. The lack of passion in any activity is the root cause of performing poorly and leading every moment forcibly just because of being alive. Yearning for a better tomorrow by expecting a miraculous twist of fate on the basis of a troublesome past is the easiest way to escape present realities. A wayward mind chooses to follow the path of least resistance inspite of knowing its futility. Its in the nature of human existence to avail every opportunity offering an easier way out, irrespective of the consequence.

In rare instances however, unbelievably magical events do occur giving a new lease of life to downtrodden and over burdened individuals. It is this reason which lies at the epicenter of hope, giving a fair chance for life to triumph.

The purpose of having an ambition is to guide oneself towards a certain goal. Various degrees of goal oriented learning is essential and constitutes understanding of subjects without repeating past mistakes. This in turn ensures today begins is at the end of yesterdays night.

Achievement of some sort is necessary to feel satisfied and content with oneself. The greater one's accomplishment, the more likely it's acceptance. Acceptance causes affection which converts to satisfaction which can translate to fulfillment and subsequently becomes the reason for love and happiness.

The sole purpose of life should be to seek truly independent happiness.

Caveat: the chain above, describe's the evolution leading up to happiness and doesn't constitute the one and only cause of it's existence. It's absolutely possible to live happily in an emotion, without having to go through the prescribed motions.

Bitter Sour

Expecting anything from
someone else is a futile exercise bound to fail and not expecting anything from oneself is a hopeless existence without any success.

Ever wonder why people would voluntarily do thing's knowing very well that trouble awaits them? When a loved one fails to reciprocate - in any way/form/manner - life becomes dejected.
I get it. I've known and experienced dejections all through my life., experienced it since ages. When I'd thought about it, in pain I figured, well - the receiving end is definitely not good, maybe next time I should be at the provider's end of the stick. I am telling now, this end of the stick gets stuck and hungup on guilt and remorse. So its best to find other means or even a compromise to come to an understanding resolution.

The moments of confrontation in love rarely dissolve the differences. Sometimes she lets go of an annoying habit of his, other times, he lets it go even if there's a crucial match live telecast and the missus wants to watch her favorite soap opera.

Even so, if for anything, one should pray, hoping against all odds that you may fall in love with the same person who loves you back at the same time. This is important because you can simply be rest assured in the knowledge that the power of her love will propel your life forward automatically.

Its only a select few lucky men who get to have a - beautiful, caring, devoted, mentally and physically compatible, willing, mature, reliable, supportive, unblemished and above all, loving! - spouse.

Future

People claiming to create the future on their own steam without any help have their minds rooted in arrogance. Those who rely completely on some unknown power expecting things to happen without any effort are stupid.

Life offers a multitude of possibilities and is magnanimous in giving second chances. The limitations developed by thinking of various haves and have-not's are most frequently a result of ones own perception. And perspectives change as time flows resulting in a changed attitude and expectations. It is similar to science which offers proof to the theories developed and accepts the disapproving of stated principles with equal zest. Thus science becomes a forever changing collection of the most recently proven theories based on observational evidence unlike religion, which is almost completely based on unproven and sometimes unrealistic implementation of laws.

Belief is often questioned in the face of evidence. Faith arises from the belief of a justified assurance in one's moral acceptance of an unknown power hoping to guide a future full of unkept promises. The inexplicable idea of a future dictated by uncertainity somehow manages to provoke the feelings of security by giving hope to an unreasonable existence.

Pale blue dot

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.

-- Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot, 1994

Love/Lust

What is love?

A state of attraction towards another human being which heightens sensual responses of the affected individual with an elated sense of attraction causing incredible feelings of desire, necessitating a response to fulfill the requirements of a conditional need enforced by a naturally occurring phenomena.

Close enough? Irrespective of the correctness, love has been known to affect people globally, with an unnaturally consistent regularity. Just like gravity, we know some of the laws governing love but are yet to define it accurately in a manner which can be scientifically proven and repeatable. What we do know is that the mind triggers a chemical called dopamine which is responsible for the feelings associated everytime you see the person you love. Its a portion of the mind which is associated with 'rewards' and is very addictive in nature, compelling inexplicable behavioral tendencies. It's also said that the 'high' is similar to that of cocaine.

It's human tendency to run behind people whom we love and neglect the ones who love us. It is fortunate to be in love and have someone love you back at the same time.

Lust on the other hand, is the physical want to fulfill a desired bodily need similar to hunger. Its recurrence is also similar to that of hunger.

The combination of love and lust towards the same person in a mutually acceptable and committed relationship forms the basis of a happy and fulfilling life.

Hopefully

Strangely, the teaching's of the east and the learning's of the west are so contradictory in nature, it becomes difficult to accept one without the other. For instance, consider the statements below on leading life.

The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time - Mark Twain.

Its the one without hope who doesn't mind ending their life today - Lord Shri Krishn.

It is not particularly surprising that contradictions are abound in life. The lord further provides an explanation on why these occur: There are multiple images of the same moment which are interpreted according to our changing perspectives.

It makes complete sense, to know that a single moment can have multiple point's of view. Its like having different paths leading towards or trailing from, the same destination or point of origin. As long as we understand that the lines are not parallel to each other, we can be sure that they will, or already have, intersected each other at some point irrespective of the currently prevalent distance between them.

Crude thoughts

Continuously waiting for something to happen is called yearning and not living. Wondering about the purpose of life has so far only offered an unyeilding and unsatisfactory life. Discontent and mistrust have taken over the minds capacity to think with multiple perspectives. If the journey was only about the destination, no traveller would enjoy it. After all it's only the dying man who asks about rebirth.

The purpose should rather be to enjoy whatever journey is embarked upon.. thus seeking of pleasure's becomes a natural derivative. Although, misguided perspectives can be corrected, the possibility of seeking the journey for the sake of pleasure's themselves cannot be ruled out. The existence of mankind has always been dependent on external factors. Be it for emotional, mental or physical support. In such an atmosphere of dependence on external factors, who wouldn't want to control the supply which satisfies demands?

When the question of control arises, the ingenuity of human mind comes to fore in the form of strategies employed. The advent of gaining crucially critical information of the opponent in order to subdue and subjugate for the control of supply and resources has been an age old practice.

But in all this evolution, where does true knowledge come from and how is happiness derived? Marcus Aurelius said "The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts." So how are thoughts generated? Why is it that they cannot be controlled? Someone had once said "the content of your mind is not in your control." While you can introduce new ones and influence the existing, you cannot stop the thoughts from being generated. Then how is it possible to control the quality of ones own thoughts? Techniques have been developed by people who meditate to channel ones energy and decrease the inconsistent flow of randomly occurring thoughts. This is supposedly helpful in training the mind into behaving properly and discarding ones inhibitions. When this happens life is lived completely with the knowledge of oneself and without any yearning. Very few are able to meditate successfully as it requires a massive amount of will power and consistent practice on a fairly regular basis.

Afflictions

What is it that decides a mind to be in a particular state? Why is it that inspite of knowing about the karmic bondage the mind revels in ignorance? All very intriguing questions, all arising from the same mind wanting to control ones destiny against all odds. The bondage created by mind has exceeded the relationships created by the material world giving rise to an indiscriminately high force of attraction making it impossible to detach ones own self from any karmic compulsions. Desire to acquire the unreal, dictates the thoughts of possession in a universe governed by Maya. Maya in turn manifests itself in every form creating a life force unlike any other. So what do you believe in? Is it not intended for man to be influenced by everything he doesn't understand? If not, why would there be a lack of awareness? The purpose of ones existence appears to be rooted in salvation and in being the one who frees himself from Karm.

The question arises, however, why if God decided to endow mankind with the power to think and articulate, would he create a mind which doesn't affirm to the narrative described as fate? Sri Krishn had once said 'everything causing fear is the creation of mind. Doubts arise when expectation rises more than affection.' If true, then why does hope always direct the heart toward an unexpected gain?

The human mind has probably been the subject of research since times immemorial. Even then it is not clear how exactly does the dialogue with oneself occur. Who exactly provides the counter points giving the ability to mentally calculate and choose? What is it exactly that produces emotions giving rise to moral justifications?

The only true matter which remains unresolved by history as well as science is love. No person has ever sanely justified the reasons or laws governing love. It remains a mystery yet to be solved and has rightfully remained outside the boundaries of human intellectual capacity. Rightfully, because if man were to define love, there will never be any motivation left to propel the future. While the emotionally supercharged feeling is very real, no one is able to accurately describe it. The theory of cause and affect does not seem to apply as love can happen to anyone at any time.

Easier said

When things go wrong don't go with them - Elvis Presley.

Action's constitute a reaction a lot more often than a response. People find it a lot easier to simply delude themselves as well as others in a mockery of thought often taken for granted. A probable explanation for this thoughtless behavior seemingly arises from the deeply rooted instinct of self preservation. If ambushed by a sudden attack, the probability of surviving is a lot more realistic if defenses are deployed autonomously. Careful thought must be given to think about various situations of vulnerability, but that planning would be beforehand and not at the spur of the moment. While spontaneous reactions can be the product of collective experiences, they often cause tremendous heartache and guilt. Since guilt is nothing but the regret of an action which does not confirm to one's morals, there is no denying it from happening again. The only thing born of guilt is self loathing, the probability of the same act happening again is not in any way diminished. This is because of the law of cause and effect. You may end up feeling bad but it does not mean you will tolerate similar consequences twice. While this may sound controversial and opposing conventional wisdom, it is very frequently the chosen path.

The one thing differentiating assumptions and factual reality is the selfishness of desire. Even nature confirms the law of self preservation by making procreation a necessity only after self preservation.

So where does an evil mind stand in all this? It doesn't.. it sits thinking of itself as an evolutionary sum derived out the collective experience of man kind. History and science not only represent the significance of having a thinking mind, but also reinforces its dominance in the evolutionary cycle. Unless there lies an element of surprise in the future and mortality of living beings, there will always remain a darker side of unexplained phenomena ensuring humility and constant improvement of a balanced life.

To sum up

Wise, true and beautiful

No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible - Voltaire.

There's hardly anything which can be added to the experience, to have come up with this!

Access Your Higher self

Millions of people are discovering that they have a Higher Self; an omniscient source of intelligence guiding their lives with meticulous care and wisdom, navigating the right people and situations into view for the highest and best learning potential, and perpetually trying to communicate directly through synchronicities, visions and dreams.

Those who make an accurate, stable connection with their Higher Self truly awaken the genius within; tapping into a limitless reservoir of creativity, intelligence and flawless guidance available to each and every person.

Many artists, poets, musicians and inventors get their best work spontaneously, in sudden bursts of inspiration that arise mysteriously often in the middle of the night. Yet, few are able to reliably access this ability. It come's and goes, seemingly without warning.

The God's must be crazy

Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need - Khalil Gibran.
Ever thought about the God's?
Science may solve the problem of how the universe began, but it cannot answer the question: why does the universe exist?

Science is constantly recorrecting [sic] its findings. Past theories contradict certain beliefs which are held today. Our present 'discoveries' may change again in the future to rediscover how we originally came into existence.

Response: A willingness to reconsider theories in the face of new evidence is essential to any process that seeks the truth. Science is strong precisely because of this, rather than despite it.

Educational indifference

What does education really mean and why is it needed? The graduate level courses of majority of colleges never really provide a comprehensive real life value addition. The doctoral and post graduate courses are the important ones which support the expansive needs of the current society as they are based of off research and development based studies. In reality, these are sciences which offer the possibility of practically being derived on the basis of postulated theories.

But the real question remains unresolved. Countries like India which had an advanced system of education have either forgotten the roots and core values or were indirectly forced to adopt newer systems based on a systemic breakdown of its vedic heritage. So would a new career in management be positively influenced by getting a Master's degree in business management? The answer lies in the quality of the edu-system, which is generally presumed to keep on increasing in value and is directly proportional to the course's tuition fee.

India has a very long way to go before it can consistently produce highly regarded astrophysicists and Nobel laureates. The amount of work done and the quality of research apparently varies a lot along with the stature of the academy sponsoring that work. Its no wonder then, that one of the greatest mathematicians ever, was the product of studying under a street lamp, burning midnight oil.

Srinivasa Ramanujan was that great mathematician who made history inspite of his humble beginnings and won accolades from his contemporaries for his contributions in the field of applied mathematics.

Srinivasa Ramanujan passed away at the ripe age of 32 due to tuberculosis and was known to be theorizing and scribbling notes upto just four days before death. Times Magazine rightly wrote: “There is something peculiarly sad in the spectacle of genius dying young, dying with the first sweets of recognition and success tasted, but before the full recognition of powers that lie within. The achievement of Ramanujan was so great that those who can really grasp the work of Ramanujan ‘may doubt that so prodigious a feat had ever been accomplished in the history of thought’.

Better with you

Throw it into the air
take that last yellow ride
down-town anywhere
go so fast, still come in last
always comin' in last

Me, I don't know where I'd be
without someone to see
this thing through
I am such a mess
even at my best
I'm better with you

Everybody knows
fourteen million ants are marching
lonely as they go
underground, round and round
city lights in your head

Life, This world's a crazy place
but when I see your face
it's shining and new
I don't even care
just take me anywhere
'cos it's better with you

Me, I don't know where I'd be
without someone to see
this thing through
just stay here by my side
I know this endless ride
is better with you
it's better with you!

Brains

A book is a mirror: if an ape looks into it, an apostle is hardly likely to look back out - Georg C. Lichtenberg.

Its said that the size of the brain compared to it's body helps understand the evolutionary advancement of the creatures under study. As the mind consumes ~30% of the total energy required by the body to survive, its development is highly prioritized and efficiently organized. Its complexity is only now being understood using advanced tools like the Magnetic Resonance Imaging and is already helping scientist's to come up with hi technology gadgets which detect brain impulses and map them accurately in an attempt to influence it's functions.

Its a strange contradiction that mind power is helping discover the brains true power and potential.

Btw: amongst mammals, only dolphins have the apparently advanced minds to recognize themselves in a mirror. This proves the existance of self consciousness or awareness of one's own self. This is considered to be the primary development giving rise to the understanding of social behaviour and cooperation amongst this pack hunter, who apart from homo-sapiens is the only mammal which enjoys sex for reasons other than procreation.

Carrot stick

Talking politely and carrying a big stick may work better but does nothing to earn a loyal following. It does however encourage a lot of negatives like opportunistic loyalists, wavering respect and backstabbing allies - all of which could be avoided to ensure unwarranted rivalry. While it can be argued that selfish motives are the key to emerging success, its utility remains untested in a world dictated by survival of the fittest.
This policy was created and implemented as a diplomatic tool used to teach opponents resisting the govt policy and was populist in nature.

So where does it lead us? To a point where the doctrine of M.A.D. is assured. Mutually assured destruction is the only reason the world exists as we know it.

Demystify

Nothing will work unless you do - Maya Angelou.

The simplicity of the statement hides a profound truth. The kind of truth derived from extensive experience of a bygone era, that is final in itself.

As simple as it sounds, it is a very difficult discipline to follow willingly in today's world that we live in.

When managers frequently use phrases like:
You haven't reached your fullest potential, they essentially mean they don't know how far you can go but are sure you haven't travelled far. makes one wonder if they know the experiences a lot better than you yourself do. Especially when you don't care!
The path that this conversation takes completely negates whatever existing little enthusiasm the manageé was left with!

Nothing will work unless you do is also marginally based on the presumption that there's no dependency, which in a collaborative environment doesn't stand a chance.

In a semi-personal sort of a way, this some how makes good sense. In a wholistic approach, this is almost like living alone or wandering off on a trek.

While in a conundrum, the legendary Leonardo da Vinci said: The knowledge of all things is possible.

Assuming the presumptions he most certainly relied upon were, that no one man or entity would be expected to learn, and recall from it all. And secondly, the context of science and the reality of their collective knowledge was very limited.

So it is plausible for the statement to hold true under certain conditions.

Coco Chanel once said: my life didn't please me, so I created my life.

Coco was ofcourse a very well accepted and revéred in the fashion industry. In a world of fluffy uncomfortable long gowns, she created and dazzled the page-3 audience with the hot new design of hers; The Little Black Dress. Also popularly known as 'the LBD!'

Once it was declared the biggest hit along with the most sensational scent created for women(in the world), there was no stopping and looking back. Its become such a rage, for such a long time, women still wear it now when attending red carpet gala's like the Academy of Motion pictures association which hosts the Oscar's. Considering this, her statement on creating life shouldn't be surprising. Although, it remains a mystery if she said it before or after becoming a global phenomena.

Looking for Passion

Constantly craving for and staring at some objective doesn't get you any closer than you already are. All it does, is to increase the longing and decrease the patience. Is that really what anyone needs? If anything, the time on station should be utilized for productive endeavours fulfilling the need of a healthy mind.
But that's not how we live our life now, is it? A few wannabes vying for attention in life at a crucial moment are always going to remain and will challenge when its least expected to take over and enslave a free soul.
The freedom of "being what we are" and to ensure it remains so - is a constant struggle. Its not about denying your heart a pleasure it so desperately seeks. Its about going into a constant state of denial to ensure a way of life.
Its in the very nature of things to bring fore an unfulfilled dream so the imagination may live its course, giving an array of reasons, the ability to choose and differentiate between mere meet eaters and farmers.
Success as defined by current standards of society has to meet the norms of an inescapable consequence derived from mistakes of the past. Its hardly the lesson learned, as the effective charge of education has a role reversal when it comes to observations of a factual reality. While the schooling remains biased with a single teacher teaching the same thing to multiple products of economic sustainability multiplied by the hopes of the sexes, it in no way helps, even the most ardent followers of bullock-cart load's, full of text books.
The true essence of a victor, even today, relies on ingenious creativity tugged along with copious amounts of space and time fusing together for the sake of a desirable outcome.
Either that, or blame it on the hereditary inheritance!

Confucius says: Don't be concerned, others not appreciating you.
Be concerned, about your not appreciating others.

Truth or dare

Is the complete brutal truth justified at the cost of hurting near and dear relationships or is a little falsehood justified to save the dreadful feelings of hurt? Who and how will you decide on what's a "little?"

The fact might very well be that there's no right answer. The significance of truth fades away completely in the face of perspective. What might be an effective device can very well turn out to be an impractical solution. A shadow of doubt will always be cast in the opposite direction of the origin of light. A lack of landing ground does nothing to negate the need for the fall itself.

It might be debated that a genuinely strong relationship should be able to wither a storm and stand firm against the tide of continuous battering of endless waves. But it doesnt recede without leaving a mark for the annals of time.

It also means, that the truth always surfaces and subsequently have the ability to be reconstructed. But what about the truth being stranger than fiction? Strange phenomena have an inherent element of revealing its true nature with surprising alacrity. Strangely, 'surprise' has no bearing upon revealation, its simply a different way of being unexpected, which in turn does not effect the nature of events from happening. Essentially, unexpected does not mean it doesn't happen, it just means the result of reaction is something you haven't prepared for. And it shows.

One who does not get surprised, has had a chance to think over all possibilities and learnt to deal with them. While it does not mean that the resultant dealing is effective and efficient, it does ensure mental preparation.

Some staunch advocates of 'on your face' kind of truth say neither should, nor it could, be told any other way. These folks are generally made up of naive, up and coming, victors mostly. Such group has till then, never even had to face worthy adversaries and go toe to toe with them. So the adamance grows as they hadn't been on the receiving end of it and don't care a lot much for the relation in question.

One other group of people would directly say 'the "so-called" truth' is nothing but a simple tool with the powers who-ever-they-be, to use for atrocities committed against them. This group will always be a little afraid of sorts. Afraid about the unknown. The version of truth is very crushing and unkind.

It appears that there are at least three more classifications, but there's no desire left within to build and extrapolate on them.

Overall, one simple way to decide whether or not to tell the truth is to try and guage the impact your truth will make on the person who's on the receiving end. Whatever be the resultant reaction, good, bad, ugly, not acceptable., compare that reaction with the value you attach to that specific relation.

Everyone does something like this in their minds. "Everyone - all the time."
Many, do not even realize they are doing it. It could be a conscious or a subconscious process, depending on various factor's like the individuals personal value system, their social class, societal environment, victories and losses while growing up etcetera.

The question whether to tell the truth does not stand anymore. Its changed to how important is the value of your relationship with the individual or group AND what are you willing to do for it?

As with most of the freebie's in life, there's a caveat for the philosophy above: sugar coating the truth is fine, lying through the teeth is not.

Some people say, the truth always comes out. If you believe in that and feel burdened by it, you can find some solace in the loophole of time and pray for it to reveal itself only when it will not affect you negatively in tactical as well as strategic environment. Or simply wish for it to come-out after a century and only be known to confìdäntés!  ;-)

Inspire, DON'T conspire

True inspiration is not something which,
comes by very frequently in my life.
This is it. Never never never ever back down.

Hesitate

In the silence of the night,
the silhouettes wave gently.
As the moon lit night passes,
thoughts waver randomly.

The smoke spreads unevenly,
in the chill winter breeze,
caressed by uncertainity,
the stars shimmer vaguely.

Time had begun its endless march,
through the space of an empty heart,
wishing upon the thoughtful mind,
were the smiles of a lovely kind.

Paused to think by a fateful night,
stones are tied with a bountiful sight,
pray to the lord and bow with fright,
blessed are those demons, skilled enough to fight.

The incredible truth(s)

Everyday brings with it new wisdom. Its not supposed to be unique in what it teaches, just like education. The teacher and lessons remain the same, its the student who is different. People think a teacher has to be the best in the world in order to teach and bring up the best students. That is incorrect thinking. Tendulkar doesn't have a record holding coach for him to be the best batsman. A coach has only the correction to make, its the student who needs to learn and implement.

A few quotes on this note:

If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things - Rene Descartes.

We thought that we had the answers, it was the questions we had wrong - Bono.

People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily - Zig Ziglar.

Life is a journey, not a destination - Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Connections

Came across a beautiful article today which describes inter-connectivity of all the experiences in life, almost validating the notion 'everything happens for a reason.'

Sometimes we have an experience that we don’t understand, but if we look deeply, or wait long enough, a reason for that experience will usually reveal itself. All the events in our lives lead to other events, and all that we have manifested in this present moment is the result of past events and experiences. We cannot easily tease apart the many threads that have been woven together to create our current reality. Experiences that don’t make sense, as well as any that we regret, are just as responsible for the good things in our lives as the experiences we do understand or label as “good.”

This is especially important to remember at times when we feel directionless or unsure of what to do. It is often at times like these that we take a job or move to a place without really knowing if it’s the right thing to do. We may ultimately end up leaving the job or the place, but often during that time we will have met someone who becomes an important friend, or we may have an experience that changes us in a profound way. When all the pieces of our life don’t quite make sense, we can remember that there may be some hidden gem of a reason that we are where we are having the experiences we are having.

It’s fun to look back on past experiences with an eye to uncovering those gems—the dreadful temporary job in a bland office building that introduced you to the love of your life; the roommate you couldn’t tolerate who gave you a book that changed your life; the time spent living in a city you didn’t like that led you into a deeper relationship with yourself. Remembering these past experiences can restore our faith in the present. Life is full of buried treasures. Chances are, you’re sitting on some right now.

Narrow minded fatheads

Wisdom from others; soul stirring lines full of beauty for the heart and mind.

There's always some madness in love, but there's also always a reason in the madness.

If I love you, what business is it of yours? - Goethe

I will indulge my sorrows, and give way to all the pangs and fury of despair - Joseph Addison.

Art is never finished, only abandoned - Leonardo da Vinci.

If you are truly humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are - Mother Teresa.

If you want to be happy in life, tie it to a goal, not people and things - Albert Einstein.

Waiting hurts. Forgetting hurts. But not knowing which decision to take is the worst of suffering - Paulo Coelho.

Relation is:
To help without hesitation,
To give without expectation,
To love without limitation &
To remember even without communication.

Beer: The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems - Homer Simpson.

Unsatisfied desire is in itself more desirable than any other satisfaction - C. S. Lewis.

It was the first time I was ever in love, and I learnt a lot. Before that I'd never even thought about killing myself - Steven Wright.

People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use - Soren Kirkegaard.

The Shiva trilogy

The true history and the religion of India is the encyclopedic book which managed to catch my fancy and brought me back into the realm of reading books. Held a book in my hands with a desire to read it after ages. Had some how lost interest in the concept of books after reading "Living with the Himalayan masters."

While reading up on my favorite topics had never ceased, had always been doing it, online, there was this emptiness and lack of joy which only comes when you actually hold a book in your hands and feel the pain in your back which makes you realize you've been in the same position for more than half a night and need to shift.

Then came this marvelous author, Amish Tripathi, with his concept of Indian mythology based fiction weaved in a compelling tale of real world historical characters and the philosophies behind creation of the most reverently followed customs & traditions. This being one of my super favorite topics, obviously had me hooked! So much, that the first two books of the trilogy were done in 3.5days flat! Felt damn nice.

Some interesting things which got through and reinforced beliefs are:

(The immortals of meluha)

- Defiant under pressure, magnanimous in victory. Page 234.

- The curse of constant strife is that we forget better life is possible. Page 210.

- Do not tempt fate! You still have to keep on winning. Page X?

- The most powerful force in a man's life is his immense desire to please the one he loves most. And the most powerful force in a woman's life is her need to be appreciated, loved and cherished for what she is. Page 152, 153.

- Whether a man is a legend or not, is decided by the history, not by the future. Page 141.

(Thoughts from here|there, discussions)

- People are to be loved and things, to be used. Not the other way round.

- The only realities of life are hunger, thirst & death. (Uma)

- You can't be entertained by what you can't become. (Uma)

- Compromise, more often than not leads to mediocrity.

- What's with fate, destiny and most importantly karma? Everybody should think about it.

- The content of your mind is not your choice - Sadguru.
