We think because we can.
In the evolutionary process of the cosmos, do we really know anything? We are the literal Stardust. We are made of the same stuff scientists call the neutrinos. Neutrinos are created by neutron stars. Enormous, ginormous celestial bodies spewing matter that makes up life all over the universe.
All our existance on this beautiful planet, is not even worth a tiny speck in the cosmic scheme of things.
Then who are we really, why are we here thinking just because we can? Do we even need to think?
