Addiction is characterized by the compulsive use of substances or engagement of behaviors despite clear evidence to the user of consequent morbidity and/or other harmful effects.
There's gotta be something else to it! [apart from the fact that most of them are simply pleasurable within certain limits which vary from individual to individual] :)
